(U.S. only. Requires ELD integration with CoPilot and licensing for Trip Management.)

There are two ways in CoPilot to plan rest stops to comply with Hours of Service (HOS) requirements:

  • Plan you own rest stops based on your HOS clocks.
  • Let CoPilot suggest stops based on your HOS clocks.

When CoPilot calculates your trip, it displays clock icons on the map at the approximate locations where you need to take rest stops, based on your HOS clocks.

  • Tap a clock to open an info box with details.
  • Zoom in to view a more exact location for the recommended rest stop.

Let CoPilot plan your rest stops

Tap the Suggest Breaks button if you would like CoPilot to search for rest stops near your route. For each place you need to stop to maintain HOS compliance (as shown by the clock icons), CoPilot suggests break locations. Each suggestion includes the name and estimated time along the route at which you will reach the rest stop.

  1. Tap a location to open the Location Info screen to view more information.
  2. If the rest stops suitable for your trip, you can add it as a stop.
  3. CoPilot inserts the stop in your trip itinerary at the spot needed to maintain HOS compliance.

Pick your preferences for suggested rest stops

Before planning your trip, you can tell CoPilot the type of rest stop you prefer when it suggests stops.

  1. In the Settings menu, select Driver Preferences.
  2. Tap the slider to turn on Driver Preferences.
  3. Select the type of stop you prefer for short breaks and for long breaks.
  4. The next time you tap Suggest Breaks, CoPilot will look for a rest stop of that type.

Plan your own rest stops

With the information CoPilot provides about where you need to stop (clock icons), you can search for nearby rest areas using CoPilot's Places search feature.
